 >> about us

The Kings of Herts Chorus (Harpenden Barbershop Harmony Club) was founded in 1984 by 4 guys who were knocked out by the sound of Barbershop Harmony.

Since then the chorus membership has risen steadily to around 50 men who meet every Thursday evening at Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden to rehearse and have a fun evening. The chorus has a varied repertoire of music from ballads and show numbers to arrangements of popular and traditional songs.

Singing in 4 part harmony is a lot of fun and we take every opportunity to share our music with the public by entertaining at events, typically for Charity Fund Raisers, Commercial and Official functions, Weddings, Society or Club celebrations. The Kings of Herts started to participate at the annual UK National Competition in 1997, and have since regularly featured amongst the 50 or so Barbershop Choruses who take part.
