Chorus Director

Alan Hooke started singing barbershop in 1989, and formed the quartet "4 in a bar" with Paul Garrett a year later. They subsequently re-jigged that line-up with two other members to form the "doo-wop" quartet "Kaleidoscope". At Kings of Herts Chorus, Alan became Baritone section leader, then Lead section leader, and then assistant Musical Director under Roger Chantrelle. Continuing this role under the next MD, Pete Powell, Alan moved to joint Musical Director when Pete left. By this time Alan had also started "Fandangle", a three part folk harmony line-up with Ali and Cathy who sing with Welwyn Harmony. Alan agreed to conduct Welwyn Harmony in mid 2005 and officially took the post of Chorus Director on in October 2005.
